Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Partners with Blue Line Solutions to Enhance School Zone Safety

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia has partnered with Blue Line Solutions to implement Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) in school zones, reinforcing their commitment to protecting students, families, and the broader community.

Prior to program implementation, a comprehensive speed study conducted across Richmond County school zones revealed consistent patterns of speeding behavior during active school hours. The study, conducted across multiple periods between late 2025 and early 2026, provided a clear, data-driven foundation for action.

This data confirmed what many communities across the country are facing: speeding in school zones remains a persistent risk that requires a proactive, consistent approach.

By implementing ASE, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is taking a step toward reducing dangerous driving behaviors while maintaining transparency and fairness in enforcement. Automated enforcement removes human bias, ensures consistency, and allows deputies to focus on higher-priority safety needs within the community.

“Every community deserves to feel confident that their children are safe traveling to and from school,” said Mark Hutchinson, CEO and Founder of Blue Line Solutions. “Richmond County is taking a proactive, data-driven approach to address speeding where it matters most, and that commitment will have a lasting impact on safety.”

Communities that implement ASE programs often see significant reductions in speeding within the first 90 days, creating safer conditions for students, school staff, and drivers alike.

Richmond County’s partnership reflects a growing movement among agencies nationwide to use data and technology to improve roadway safety and protect their most vulnerable populations.

Blue Line Solutions offers FREE 5-Day Speed Studies to help communities evaluate speeding concerns in school zones and other high-risk areas.
