Blue Line Solutions Provides Traffic Safety Technology, Not Surveillance
Across the country, communities are asking important questions about cameras: What do they capture? Who controls the data? How is it used?
These are questions every community should ask.
But not all camera technologies work the same way.
What Does Blue Line Solutions Do?
Blue Line Solutions provides traffic safety technology, not surveillance technology.
Our systems are designed for one purpose: helping communities protect children, pedestrians, and motorists by reducing dangerous driving. Our mission is simple: create safer school and work zones with the goal of zero crashes, zero injuries, and zero fatalities.
What's the Difference Between ALPR and BLS' Solutions?
Unlike automated license plate reader (ALPR) networks that may capture every vehicle that passes, BLS systems are event-aware. A record is created only when a vehicle meets the defined criteria for a traffic violation, such as traveling 10+ MPH over the enforceable speed limit in an active school or work zone.
Law-abiding motorists are not recorded, and no data is collected about their vehicles.
Our systems are also schedule-aware, operating according to locally established enforcement schedules. Systems capture vehicles from the rear, never capture images of the vehicle’s occupants, do not use facial recognition, do not track motorists, pedestrians, or cyclists, and are focused on specific lanes of travel.
Violation events include only the evidence necessary to document the offense, including a two-second video clip like this one here.
The distinction is simple: surveillance technology is designed to collect information about vehicles that pass a camera. Blue Line Solutions’ technology is designed to identify specific traffic safety violations.
And the goal is even simpler: safer roads and safer communities.
